We're delighted to announce that our computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, EXN/Aero, is now being hosted on the Google Cloud Platform. We highlight what this means for those looking to access on-demand high performance computing on the cloud.
Why Has EXN/Aero Migrated To Google Cloud?
The migration to Google's Cloud Platform reflects Envenio’s goal to make computational fluid dynamics more accessible, with EXN/Aero addressing many of the long-time restrictions and limitations faced by engineers, replacing inflexible and expensive CFD licenses with a pay-as-you-go model in the cloud.
“We are very excited to have migrated EXN/Aero to Google, meaning users will be able to access our supercomputing platform to build, compute, analyze, and scale simulations in the Google Cloud Platform” says Scott Walton, VP at Envenio.
What Are The Advantages For Users?
One of the key advantages of CFD on the Google Cloud Platform, is the ability for consultants to enjoy a significant reduction in simulation solve time and to list end-to-end CFD services in their marketing and proposal materials. This can be particularly useful for those departments with restricted budgets or freelancers and SMEs with stringent cashflow considerations.
Financial restrictions are particularly common with CFD software, and operating a CFD tool on more than 4 CPUs can become extremely costly. With some vendors charging over $1,000 per additional core, and some on-demand vendors still requiring annual licenses, accessing EXN/Aero on the Google Cloud Platform is a ‘cash flow friendly’ way to access high performance resources on a truly pay-monthly basis.
The Impact Of More Accessible CFD
More accessible CFD software also means engineers can:
- access simulation tools and post-processing tools.
- expand their service offering to their own clients.
- keep up with the competition.
- reduce turn-around times on simulations.
- up-sell existing clients on larger or more complex models.
- provision compute resources on the fly to scale with customer demands.
Is It Secure?
Google Cloud Platform is used by many of the world’s leading brands due to their commitment to integrity and security, as well as an ongoing commitment to improving and expanding the service offering.
“As you’d expect from a leading digital innovator, Google Cloud Platform is secure, high-performance, global and cost-effective, and we are excited about how this partnership will benefit engineers and make accessing CFD easier and more affordable” Scott adds.

Try It For Yourself
There's no excuse to not being able to take advantage of simulation, even if you're not an experienced engineer.
Envenio has also created the Discovery Project and Onboarding Program to further assist those in industries such as architecture, HVAC, indoor farming, and the built sector who could benefit from simulation, yet do not have comprehensive CFD experience. With the Discovery Project, Envenio executes a HVAC project on the client's behalf, returning engineering data and results according to an agreed set of objectives. With the Onboarding Program, Envenio works alongside the HVAC engineer or consultant to kick start their simulation project while training them fully on the platform. It guarantees the client is successful in using affordable simulation software tool, EXN/Aero, and minimizes the learning curve.
